Pirates’ Promise Program
The Pirates' Promise is a key component in Orange Coast College's commitment to the success of its students. Pirates' Promise breaks down financial barriers and paves the way for students to start their career or transfer. The program provides first-time college students with tuition assistance during the primary terms (fall and spring) for 2 years, ensuring that every aspiring student can embark on their educational journey with confidence. The program is designed for first-time college students who enroll full-time (12 units or more) at OCC. New cohorts of students are admitted each new academic year, starting in the fall semester. Most Pirates' Promise cohorts start off in the fall semester, but students who plan to start in the spring semester, should contact the Pirates' Promise team for cohort availability.
Students who meet the eligibility criteria (first-time college student and CA resident or AB 540) need to complete the sign-up requirements of 1) applying to OCC 2) applying for FAFSA or CA Dream Act and 3) submit an interest form in order to be considered part of the cohort. Admission to the program will be based on availability.
