Introduction to Theater

A course designed to introduce students to all aspects of theatre. This course examines theatre history, acting, directing, and the technical elements of scenery, lighting, sound, costume and make-up. Lecture, demonstration, and classroom participation will be utilized. Attendance at a live theatrical performance is mandatory (the college will not pay for or reimburse a student the cost of attending a live theatrical performance).

Formerly: ENGL C164. Designed for the General Education student, this course is an introduction to dramatic literature and an examination of the process of theater production. Included is a view of each period of dramatic literature in the context of history and mind set, the study of characterization and theme, and an examination of the creative process.
