An introduction to residential/commercial construction, this course is designed to provide you with foundational knowledge and with enough practice at reading blueprints to get you started. It is a guide to understanding the drawings used in the major construction trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. The course includes information for styles of building from small-scale residential to large-scale commercial. Graded or Pass/No Pass option.

Applies the California Code of Regulations (Title 24) as it pertains to various types of buildings. Special emphasis will be placed on California State energy regulations, building modifications for the disabled for accessibility, and includes an introduction to the California State Green Building codes. A comprehensive course designed to give the student an understanding of the Non-Structural Provisions of the International Building Code. Important aspects of this course are regulation of building areas, heights, location on property, fire resistance rated materials, fire suppression systems, and the means of egress of buildings.
