This program is designed to help non-native speakers of English with children in the K-12 school system become more effective advocates for their children’s academic success. The courses in this program provide direct instruction of English language including reading, writing, listening and speaking skills as well as information about various programs, services, organizations, expectations, and procedures common in the K-12 school system. This program is recommended for students with at least low intermediate English language skills.
Program Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate the language skills necessary to advocate for their children's education.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of K-12 system, its programs, services, and expectations.
Certificate of Competency
A certificate in a recognized career field articulated with degree-applicable coursework, completion of an associate degree, or transfer to a baccalaureate institution.
