This certificate program is designed to help adult non-native speakers of English continue to develop their ability to use English to communicate more effectively in a variety of settings. The courses in this program provide direct instruction of English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills at the low advanced level. Special attention is given to helping students consider the possibility to transition to career development or academic program.

This is a non-credit program and does not provide college credit for degree award.

1. Students will demonstrate increased ability to engage in extended discussion orally and in writing with minimal language disruptions.
2. Students will be able to evaluate the development of various texts, oral and written.

Certificate of Competency

A certificate in a recognized career field articulated with degree-applicable coursework, completion of an associate degree, or transfer to a baccalaureate institution.
