This course is designed for Spanish speakers or for students who are linguistically equivalent to a heritage speaker of Spanish. Students will develop their existing Spanish language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking through the study of academic Spanish vocabulary and grammar. Students will review historical and current events, art, culture, diversity, and literary works of Chicanx, Latinx, and Spanish writers to enrich the knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world and develop an appreciation for the diversity of Hispanic cultures of all Spanish-speaking countries and in the United States. This course is a continuation of SPAN G160 and is designed for Spanish speakers or for students who are linguistically equivalent to a heritage speaker of Spanish. Students will further develop their existing Spanish language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking through the analysis of literary works and composition and the study of advanced grammar. Students will analyze historical and current events, art, culture, diversity, and literary works of Chicanx, Latinx, and Spanish writers and explore the geographical and linguistic diversities of the Spanish-speaking world to value the diversity of Hispanic cultures of all Spanish-speaking countries and in the United States.
