Essentials of Number Systems and Arithmetic, Certificate of Competency

This program introduces students to the essentials of beginning algebra, focusing on sets of numbers and the arithmetic of fractions, percents, and decimal numbers.  Completing this certificate will help prepare students for essential beginning algebra concepts and skills necessary to succeed at college-level mathematics courses.

Program Level Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Identify which number sets a number is an element of. 
  2. Add and subtract fractions with different denominators.
  3. Round a decimal to a desired place value.
