This noncredit course in academic strategies is designed to assist students in developing an understanding of academic principles and expectations with an emphasis on student responsibility for learning. In addition, this course provides an exploration of the psychological, social, and health factors that influence success in college. Students will be given an opportunity to practice and adopt college learning skills through a combination of exercises, practice assignments, and group discussions. Noncredit. Pass/No Pass. This noncredit course is designed to prepare students to take the social studies portion of the General Education Development (GED) Test. The course provides pre- and post-testing of social studies content and individualized prescriptive instruction in preparation for the test. This course provides subject area study in the following proportions: 50% Civics and Government, 20% History, 15% Economics, and 15% Geography. These proportions match the weighting of the number of questions on the GED Social Studies Test. Noncredit. Pass/No Pass. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE.

This noncredit course is designed to prepare students for the General Education Development (GED) exam in Mathematics. This course provides instruction in quantitative and algebraic problem solving and skill building in test taking strategies to respond to questions on the GED exam in mathematical reasoning. 55% of the exam covers algebraic concepts and 45% covers quantitative reasoning. Noncredit. Pass/No Pass. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE.

This noncredit course is designed to prepare students to take the science portion of the General Education Development (GED) Test. The course provides pre- and post-testing of science content and individualized prescriptive instruction in preparation for the test. This course provides subject area study in the following proportions: 40% Life Science, 40% Physical Science and 20% Earth and Planetary Sciences. These proportions match the weighting of the number of questions on the GED Science Test. Noncredit. Pass/No Pass. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE.

This noncredit course is designed to prepare students to take the Reading and Language Arts section of the GED (General Educational Development) test. The course provides individualized prescriptive instruction in preparation of the test. It covers test-taking strategies and the fundamentals of the reading and writing portion of the test. This non-credit course will introduce basic operations with signed numbers, exponents, fractions and mixed numbers, first degree equations, radicals, proportions, rational expressions, factorizations, percent’s, formulas, applied problems, and the rectangular coordinate system.
