This transitional English certificate provides an opportunity for multilingual students to experience the Academic English rigor introduced in the credit ESL certificates. Students will develop academic language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. In addition, students will be introduced to academic habits, learning strategies, and social skills necessary to enhance their prerequisite academic knowledge. Upon completion, students will be able to build a stronger foundation for success in their transitional English language level.

Program Level Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Compose sentences that focus on description, narration, personal reactions, and expressing a point of view.
2. Compose a topic and concluding sentence.
3. Identify the main ideas in audio and video recordings.
