Orange County and neighboring areas are rich in part-time job opportunities for American Sign Language Interpreting. This program is designed to provide students with sign language interpreting skills sufficient for entry-level employment. This curriculum is recommended for people who desire to obtain skills necessary to function effectively as an American Sign Language Interpreter.

Program Level Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Operate within a cultural knowledge of the Deaf.
- Transliterate and interpret between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL).
- Interpret between ASL and spoken English.
- Understand specialized vocabulary and ethical practices that enable the student to function effectively as an interpreter for the Deaf.

Recommended Program Sequence
These sequences are general course maps for students to finish all major and general education requirements for two-year completion of degrees, completion of short-term certificates, and/or fulfillment of transfer requirements.
