The Golden West College Foundation was organized in 1985 to solicit and manage gifts to benefit the college and its students. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting the College’s mission of providing comprehensive academic opportunities to the community.

A board of directors provides the leadership and direction for the organization’s operation and manages the Foundation. The Foundation has grown steadily since 1985 with assets over $13,000,000. This has been accomplished through donations of cash, bequests and grants from individuals and businesses. The Foundation has provided over $11,000,000 in scholarships to Golden West College students, and over $10,800,000 in program support to date. In addition to cash assets, the Foundation annually receives donated equipment and supplies that represent thousands of dollars in gifts-in-kind.

The primary focus of the Foundation Board of Directors is to work towards building support for college-wide needs. To nurture groups who have special interests in supporting Golden West College, the Foundation provides direction to one auxiliary group, the Patrons, which requires membership dues for operational expenses. Organized in April 1973, the Golden West College Patrons membership is composed of alumni, community members and GWC staff and faculty. The Patrons is a volunteer organization that raises monies for student scholarships and program support through a yearly fundraiser. In 2021, the Patrons received a Premier Pillar, which is awarded to individuals, groups and organizations that have made a cumulative gift of $100,000 or more to Golden West College students and college. Membership is open to the public.
