This is a high intermediate level certificate program in English as a Second Language which includes English reading, writing, speaking, and listening. It prepares students for further academic study in advanced level ESL courses by improving English language skills through a step-by-step grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening curriculum. After completing this certificate, students may go on to advanced ESL classes and academic programs as well as career training programs.

Program Level Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Complete college-level academic tasks in reading and writing such as analysis of reading passages and the generation of standard paragraphs.
2. Complete college-level academic tasks in listening and speaking such as note-taking from verbal input and discussing content.

This award confirms that a student has completed a noncredit program that prepares students to progress in a career path or to take degree-applicable courses.
