Course Description
Introduction to instrumental music for students with intellectual disabilities. Course concentrates on the utilization of a variety of melodic and percussive instruments, with an emphasis on using improvisation techniques to facilitate individual development. Noncredit. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE. Not Transferable.

- Play one or more designated musical instruments while demonstrating knowledge of fast and slow tempos and high and low tones.
Course Objectives
- 1. Choose an instrument to play.
- 2. Identify musical instruments.
- 3. Identify musical sounds.
- 4. Comply with a request to stop playing music.
- 5. Distinguish between fast and slow tempos.
- 6. Distinguish between high and low tones.
- 7. Play a variety of simple musical instruments.
- 8. Use music as a technique for participation in a leisure-time activity.
- 9. Play duets with peers.
- 10. Improvise a simple melodic tune.
