Course Description

This course is an intermediate-to-advanced level course in American Sign Language (ASL). Emphasis is on vocabulary aquisition and intermediate level grammar. Students will learn to incorporate temporal sequencing, reoccuring time signs, continuous time signs, when clauses, locatives, and advanced classifiers. ADVISORY: SIGN G185. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

1.Demonstration of conversational skills.  Translate English into ASL. 2.Written assignments on deafness, Sign, and related issues.  Demonstrate vocabularies.

Project -Complile community use of vocabulary in different settings, (e.g., educational, justice, medical) and present vocabulary to class either individually or in a small group.

Using concrete examples to translate English to ASL.
