Course Description

A music appreciation course focusing on music from cultures around the world. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Course Level Student Learning Outcome(s)

  1. Given recorded or performed examples, apply listening skills learned in class to determine the following: textural qualities (heterophonic, polyphonic, etc.), rhythmic structure, ethnic origin, composer or title, and instrumentation.
  2. Analyze or compare and contrast music from representative geographical locations in the world in terms of culture, style, instruments used, and sacred vs. profane.
