Course Description
Formerly: Art History and Appreciation 2 - Renaissance to Present. This course provides an overview of art and architecture from the Renaissance to the present day. Students will examine the influence of social, cultural, political, religious, philosophical, and historical contexts on the art and architecture of this time. Key artists, art movements, artworks, and architectural sites will be studied. Traditional forms of art such as painting, sculpture, and photography will be discussed as well as newer examples from the 20th and 21st centuries. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC. C-ID: ARTH 120. Art history: Masters degree in art history, history of art and architecture, or visual culture/visual studies OR bachelors degree in art history and masters degree in history OR masters degree in art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in art history OR the equivalent.
