Course Description
Students in this course will experience the principles of acting, dancing, solo and choral singing, stage management, producing, audition and/or technical theater techniques for musical theater at an advanced level. Students will participate in musical theater presentations such as musical comedy, musical drama, musical revues, opera or operettas presented at Golden West College at an advanced level. Actors will be selected through audition. All others will identify a preference for production assignments through the interview process. ADVISORY: Audition/interview. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

Course Objectives
- 1. Prepare and successfully present musical theater audition material as it relates to their production assignment at an advanced level
- 2. Develop and demonstrate musical theater performance skills in acting, dance, and solo and choral vocal singing as they relate to their production assignment at an advanced level
- 3. Develop and demonstrate musical theater design and technical skills as they relate to their production assignment at an advanced level
- 4. Develop and demonstrate musical theater producing skills as they relate to their production assignment at an advanced level
- 5. Develop and demonstrate stage management skills as they relate to their production assignment at an advanced level

Student will demonstrate skill proficiency in acting, dancing, singing, stage managment, producing and/or technical theater in a musical theater presentation at an advanced level.
Eligible Disciplines
Dance: Masters degree in dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, or theater with dance emphasis, OR bachelors degree in any of the above AND masters degree in physical education, any life science, physiology, theater arts, kinesiology, humanities, performing arts, or music OR the equivalent. Masters degree required. Drama/theater Arts: Masters degree or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance OR bachelors degree or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater/performance AND masters degree in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature, or humanities OR the equivalent. Masters degree required. Music: Masters degree in music OR bachelors degree in music AND masters degree in humanities OR the equivalent. Masters degree required.
