Course Description
This course provides participation in the preparation of theatrical productions presented to the community in one or more of the following areas at an intermediate level: stage scenery construction and painting, stage lighting, stage makeup, stage costumes, house management, stage management, and acting. Actors will be selected through audition. All others will identify a preference for production assignments through the interview process. ADVISORY: Audition/interview. Transfer Credit: CSU.

- Complete an acting assignment in a live theatrical production at Golden West College at an intermediate level.
- Complete a technical theater assignment in a live theatrical production at Golden West College at an intermediate level.
- Complete a stage management or house management assignment in a live theatrical production at Golden West College at an intermediate level.
Course Objectives
- 1. Demonstrate comprehension of all aspects of theater production with responsibilities appropriate for an intermediate level student.
- 2. Apply learned skills and rehearsal and performance protocols and procedures in acting at an intermediate level.
- 3. Expand vocabulary and understanding of management and production practices with emphasis on the equipment, terms, and procedures employed in the following areas of study: stage management, house management, stage lighting, construction and painting of stage scenery, stage make-up, stage costumes, and theatrical sound for the stage.

Eligible Disciplines
Drama/theater Arts: Masters degree or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance OR bachelors degree or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater/performance AND masters degree in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature, or humanities OR the equivalent.
