Course Description

Students in this course are given practical experience in each area of theatrical performance and production at an intermediate level. Actors will be selected through audition. All others will identify a preference for production assignments through the interview process. ADVISORY: Audition/interview. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC.

2. Complete a performance, producing and/or technical production assignment in a live theatrical production at Golden West College at an intermediate level.

Course Objectives

• 1. Demonstrate an understanding of acting, directing, technical theater and/or producing skills and techniques at an intermediate level
• 2. Identify and employ the techniques of script analysis, character development and dramatic structure of a play at an intermediate level
• 3. Apply theatrical techniques through the rehearsal and performance process at an intermediate level
• 4. Recognize different styles and types of plays with an emphasis on the visual, creative, cultural and historical components at an intermediate level

Skill proficiency in acting, producing and/or technical theater. Literary and historical production research with an emphasis on the visual, creative, and cultural components as appropriate to the acting assignment.

Eligible Disciplines

Drama/theater Arts: Masters degree or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance OR bachelors degree or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater/performance AND masters degree in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature, or humanities OR the equivalent.
