Course Description
This introductory horticulture course is designed for students interested in groundskeeping and landscaping careers. The principles and practices used in both residential and commercial grounds care, including generalized identification skills, plant knowledge, and basic-care techniques will be integrated into both classroom lecture and lab experiences. Noncredit. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE. Not Transferable.

- Successfully recall basic landscape care practices traditionally useful for application in work settings or leisure-time activities.
- Successfully maintain grounds by safely following simple directions, using correct tools and employing proper techniques.
Course Objectives
- 1. Follow simple directions.
- 2. Recognize and differentiate weeds from landscape features.
- 3. Demonstrate basic care of individual landscaping elements.
- 4. Safely utilize appropriate tools and correct methods to maintain grounds with minimal supervision.
- 5. Accomplish a specific groundskeeping skill within the class time limits.
- 6. Clean up work area following participation in a landscaping activity.
- 7. Make use of landscaping as a leisure-time activity.
