Course Description

An exploratory course designed for, but not limited to, students with developmental delays utilizing a variety of activities to develop knowledge and skills related to arts, crafts and collections. The course relates to arts and activities such as collecting, playing table games, and doing other activities. Students enrolled in the course receive an individualized educational contract where course objectives are evaluated according to whether or not the objectives/student outcomes are targeted, satisfied, not satisfied, deferred, or not applicable. Noncredit. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE. Not Transferable.

  1. Demonstrate mastery of knowledge and skill by creating an art and/or craft project.
  2. Interact appropriately with others in a variety of social settings by working cooperatively, communicating, sharing, and treating others with respect.

Course Objectives

  • 1. Students will explore and review a wide variety of arts, activities, and subjects of personal interest relevant to course curriculum.
  • 2. Students will choose and pursue activities and projects of interest from a wide range of topics relevant to course curriculum.
  • 3. Students will apply information and skills, acquired from course content areas, to a wide variety of activities and projects, (i.e., arts, crafts, collections, table games, outdoor activities, photography, sewing, etc.)
  • 4. Students will categorize and organize tools, materials and collections.
  • 5. Students will select and utilize tools and materials appropriately.
  • 6. Students will be able to select and participate in a game or group setting.
  • 7. Students will be able to create a craft project and/or an art project.
