Course Description

This course is designed to provide students with opportunities to use necessary adaptive technology for testing and assessment. The center provides an inclusive environment to help students realize their academic potential. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, this facility provides accommodations such as, but not limited to: additional timing, specialized equipment, and readers. The center provides equal access to students to enhance academic success. Registration is available only through the Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Office. Open entry/open exit. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE. Not Transferable.

  1. Course Outcomes
  2. Schedule appointments for testing.
  3. Prepare appropriate paperwork for testing accommodations and submit it to DSPS in a timely manner.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to check in and check out of testing site properly.
  5. Recognize individual instructors' testing policies.

Course Objectives

  • 1. use legally required services and accommodations in order to fully participate in their courses.

Lecture Content

Students will be able to have access to the following: A. Special accomodations as deemed reasonable based on the students disability.    1.  Student is responsible for requesting services and accommodations.    2.  Student must qualify for services based on their disability. B.  Appropriate services and accommodations which may include:    1.  Testing facilitation    2.  Adaptive hardware including a closed circuit TV, adaptive keyboard, adaptive mouse.    3.  Adaptive software including Zoom Text, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking    4.  Specialized lab staff    5.  Additional time for tests and assignments
