Course Description

Development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in Italian. Extensive exposure to cultures related to the Italian language through authentic materials and group discussions on a variety of topics ranging from current events to global issues. Emphasis on cross-cultural understanding. Content differs each time. PREREQUISITE: One semester of college-level Italian. Transfer Credit: CSU.

  1. Communicate in Italian in a variety of social situations.
  2. Express in writing and/or orally feelings and opinions on a variety of topics.
  3. Analyze a variety of texts dealing with a broader spectrum of both Italian and non-Italian cultures.

Course Objectives

  • 1. Develop Italian communicative skills in the areas of reading, writing and speaking in relation to student's beginning level of Italian.
  • 2. Develop skills in the use of Italian grammar and syntax.
  • 3. Become familiar with the many historical and cultural aspects of the Italian society.
