Course Description
A laboratory based course to improve interior design skills. Students work independently according to a self-designed study plan they complete under the supervision of the course instructor. Periodic student teacher conferences and a final self assessment report are part of the course. Enrollment is open all semester. Students should be enrolled in an interior design course. NOT DEGREE APPLICABLE. Not Transferable.

- Formulate learning objectives for independent interior design projects and practice self-assessment as it relates to those projects.
Course Objectives
- 1. Formulate learning objectives.
- 2. Practice self-assessment and basic skills abilities in interior design.
- 3. Complete a minimal number of required exercises, assignments, self-evaluation charts, and final progress report.
- 4. Demonstrate techniques as they relate to interior design.
- 5. Use appropriate learning resources such as notebooks, material samples, resource books, computer programs, and student-teacher conferences.
- 6. Identify and select appropriate materials (fabrics, paint, flooring) for current assignment.
- 7. Demonstrate the appropriate use of a board cutter.
- 8. Demonstrate use of the computer for research and sources to support class assignments.
- 9. Demonstrate use of technology based programs and equipment to enhance/support current projects.
Lecture Content
There are four modules: Course orientation and needs self-assessment Academic and personal/work schedule Academic history Skills self-assessment/needs inventory Academic study/learning goals Student-instructor conferences Review of progress to date Agreement on learning tasks Individual interior design exercises and assignments Individual assignments based on currently enrolled ID classes On-going completion of self-evaluation summary Provide instruction in the area of small equipment and studio materials and identification of classroom equipment available for students. Help the student to locate and explain the function of various equipment operations. Students will continue to develop an intermediate project relating to current ID courses. Designed to support the advanced level interior design projects relating to currently enrolled ID course. Support portfolio development as the highest level of course project.
