Course Description

Recognition of landscape control of weeds in the landscape and in nurseries with emphasis on practical applications. Transfer Credit: CSU.

  1. Identify common weeds of Southern California and describe various control methods available to them.
  2. Recommend an appropriate herbicide application.

Course Objectives

  • 1. Classify various weeds.
  • 2. Identify common weeds of the southern California landscape and nursery.
  • 3. Describe the current herbicides available and their mode of action.
  • 4. Safely apply herbicides.
  • 5. Calibrate application equipment.
  • 6. Describe how to control weeds in various landscape plantings and in nurseries.
  • 7. Realize the importance of using “Integrated Pest Management” practices.
