Course Description

This course will enhance students' ability to succeed in the field of Health Care management by providing an opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Students will have specific performance objectives relative to their career or occupational goal in the field of Health Care Management. PREREQUISITE: Be employed or volunteer in the field of Health Care Management for 10 hours/week per 1 unit of Work Based Learning. COREQUISITE: Be enrolled in a total of 7 units including Work Based Learning. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Course Level Student Learning Outcome(s)

  1. Apply classroom theory to situations in the workplace and assess various scenarios based on real-life experience.
  2. Analyze various job skills using classroom theory and Management by Objectives theory to develop personal job-oriented learning objectives.
  3. Formulate personalized performance objectives, based on specified standards, and correlate with specific career educational goals.
  4. Evaluate their accomplishment of each job-oriented learning objective and their career/educational development, and validating with appropriate reports, projects, as well as employer/supervisor's appraisal.

Eligible Disciplines

Health: Masters degree in health science, health education, biology, nursing, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, dietetics, or nutrition OR bachelors degree in any of the above AND masters degree in public health, or any biological science OR the equivalent. Masters degree required.
