Course Description

Designed to develop the student’s ability at any level to comprehend and communicate in French: reading, writing and cultural components are included. PREREQUISITE: FREN A185 or FREN A185H or higher, or three years of high school French with a grade of 'C' or better. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Course Level Student Learning Outcome(s)

  1. Dialogue, interview, present, role play, and debate using acquired languages skills.
  2. Read and discuss French texts taken from a variety of sources such as magazines, newspapers, brochures, advertisements.

Course Objectives

  • 1. Develop oral proficiency by carefully planned communicative activities.
  • 2. Produce French sentences in a creative way.
  • 3. Communicate in survival situations.
  • 4. Narrate events using the correct verb tenses.
  • 5. Identify the cultural similarities and differences between the French and American cultures.
  • 6. Respond appropriately in social situations in French.
  • 7. Read articles concerning French history.
  • 8. Discuss current events in the arts.
