Course Description

On the job training at approved institutional or commercial facilities working with a food scientist in the development of new products or quality assurance. Students will be required to follow dress standards and company policies of conduct, set by the facility in which they are working. PREREQUISITE: FN A195. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Writing measurable learning objectives related to personal and directed practice site need including what is to be accomplished, how it will be accomplished, how it will be evaluated and completion date. Routine objectives Personal objectives Creative objectives Critical thinking objectives Subject matter objectives Conducting search for appropriate internship site related to education and career goals with instructor. Interviewing at an internship site and present ones self professionally. Dressing appropriately for internship site. Maintaining a record of internship experiences and time. Reviewing achievement of learning objectives and effectiveness of internship site and program with instructor and work site supervisor. Writing an evaluation of achievement of learning objectives and effectiveness of internship program as it relates to students goals.

Instructional Techniques

Student will receive instruction and one-on-one conferencing related to instructional objectives. The site supervisor will process and provide goal achievement input and evaluation of students job performance on an on-going basis. The instructor/coordinator will provide on-site goal achievement assessment and reassessment, as well as final evaluation.
