Course Description

Assists students in developing specialized film/video related projects. Expanded focus in specific study areas enhancing knowledge and technical skills. Designed for advanced film/video majors. Transfer Credit: CSU.

Course Level Student Learning Outcome(s)

  1. Create a project for a video portfolio.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to perform at a professional level consistent with the film/video industry from pre-production through post production responsibilities.

Course Objectives

  • 1. Breakdown a script into its individual elements of scenes, locations, cast and technical requirements.
  • 2. Initiate casting and cast selections.
  • 3. Scout, select and secure shooting locations.
  • 4. Schedule locations, equipment and crews.
  • 5. Plan and execute rehearsals, blocking and cast scheduling.
  • 6. Devise and execute a shooting plan for each location day.
  • 7. Effectively log and communicate production notes to editors.
  • 8. Supervise post-production steps for efficient work flow.
  • 9. Devise a marketing and distribution plan.
