Course Description
This course will provide instruction and hands-on experience in laboratory procedures and safety, laboratory equipment assessment, chemical safety and making solutions, running experiments in the field/laboratory, plastination of specimens, and other related laboratory/field concepts. Students are supervised by a biology instructor and/or biology staff qualified to train the students in their procedures and safety guidelines. Enrollment Limitation: Students must have taken a biology laboratory course and passed with a grade of C or higher at OCC prior to enrolling in this course. PREREQUISITE: Students must have completed a biology laboratory course at Orange Coast College and earned a C or better. Not Transferable.

Best practices and procedures in running a laboratory/field activity, chemical safety procedures, plastination of specimens, and maintenance of biology equipment.

Eligible Discipline(s)
- Biological sciences: Master’s degree in any biological science OR bachelor’s degree in any biological science AND master’s degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent. Master's degree required.
