Veterans, Active Duty Military, and Credit for Military Training
Coastline College is approved for training veterans under all applicable laws. The College helps veterans by cooperating with the Veterans Administration and the California State Department of Veterans Affairs. Coastline establishes policies and programs for educating veterans and active-duty military personnel.
Under Title 5, Section 55024, members of the service called to active duty during a semester in which they are enrolled, may petition to withdraw under special circumstances. The withdrawal will be posted as an “MW”- Military Withdrawal on the student’s transcript and will be non-punitive, which means that it will not count in the student’s grade point average nor will it count towards academic or progress probation/disqualification.
Students with orders to report during a semester in which they are enrolled should contact Admissions and Records on the first floor of the Student Services Center at Fountain Valley or email cccadmissionsoffice@coastline.edu for the appropriate petition form.
Coastline recognizes and grants academic credit to active-duty service members and veterans for eligible military service and training credit completed in the armed forces. The policy for the acceptance of military credit is available on the Awarding of Credit, Alternate Methods page of the catalog.
