The Emergency Management Foundations Certificate of Specialization equips students with the essential knowledge of the principles, systems, and practices employed in the field of emergency management. Emphasizing an all-hazards framework, the program introduces the four phases of emergency management, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, and focuses on core competencies in planning, readiness, and emergency operations. Students acquire the foundational skills necessary to support training activities, assist in emergency operations centers, and participate in coordinated disaster exercises. This certificate prepares students for entry-level roles in emergency management, public safety, healthcare, education, and nonprofit disaster programs, and serves as a stepping stone to advanced emergency management coursework.
