The Core Professional Skills for Artists Certificate of Completion is provided for students through the Art Department at Coastline College's Newport Beach Campus. Classes are taught by creative career professionals in both the state-of-the-art studio labs and the up-scale Coastline Art Gallery/Pop-Up Gallery Store. During this focused three-course program students will refine professional skills in drawing and painting, create digital and physical portfolios, and develop the vocational skills needed to participate in the global arts marketplace. Students will have hands-on opportunities to help run the Coastline Gallery's new Pop-Up Gallery Store, as well as participate in all open exhibition and craft fair opportunities hosted by Coastline College. Upon completion of the Core Professional Skills for Artists Certificate of Completion, students will have the knowledge, skills, and experience to participate in both virtual and physical creative vocations with confidence. 

Program Level Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Students will produce a portfolio of original, professional, refined creative products

2. Students will develop and implement a viable small-business plan for growing a home-based creative business.

This award confirms that a student has completed a noncredit program that prepares students to progress in a career path or to take degree-applicable courses.
