This multidisciplinary course addresses current issues such as rationing health care based on age, elder care in families, social and financial projections on retirement, and how social institutions such as social security and Medicare meet the challenges of an aging population. Professional issues such as ethics, job burnout, and dealing with loss are also discussed. Emphasis is placed on meeting these needs in the local area with an investigation of community resources.
