Certificates of Achievement

These Certificates of Achievement are all approved majors of 16 units or more and will be posted on the transcript. They may be used as elective units towards the A.A. or A.S. Degree.

Curriculum Requirements

Majors leading to technical competence in a variety of occupational areas are available at Coastline. The curriculum on the following pages leads to a certificate of achievement or, with additional work in general education, an Associate degree. Certificate programs are designed to prepare individuals to enter a particular field of employment or to provide in-service training for those already employed.

A Certificate of Achievement is awarded upon completion of the required work with a grade of C or higher in each course and the student is in attendance at the time requirements are completed.

To receive the certificate, the student must file a petition for graduation during his/her final semester. Students must also earn a minimum of 12 units of coursework at Coastline, excluding experiential credit. A student with prior experience may be excused from certain certificate courses. 50 percent of the certificate program’s units must be completed at Coastline no matter how the total number of units required for the certificate can be met.

These certificates of Accomplishment are from 12 to less than 16 units. A Coastline certificate will be awarded, but only courses will be posted on the transcript.

Curriculum Requirements

Certificates of Accomplishment meet emerging technological needs of employers in business, government, and industry.

A Certificate of Accomplishment is awarded upon completion of the required work with a grade of C or higher in each course.

To receive the certificate, the student must file a petition for the certificate during his/her final semester. Students must also earn a minimum of 12 units of coursework at Coastline, excluding experiential credit.
